About us
The Iberian Society of Ecology groups together professionals who are dedicated to the study of all areas of the science of Ecology (theoretical, terrestrial, marine, continental waters and border ecosystems). Established in July 2018, SIBECOL also includes the members of the Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL), the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology (AEET), the Portuguese Society of Ecology (SPECO) and the Spanish Society of Ethology and Evolutionary Ecology (SEEEE), as well as professionals in marine ecology.
What do we seek?
The Iberian Society of Ecology groups together professionals who are dedicated to the study of all areas of the science of Ecology (theoretical, terrestrial, marine, continental waters and border ecosystems). What do we seek?
SIBECOL was born with the purpose of promoting the multidisciplinary nature of the study of natural systems, and of disseminating ecological and sustainability values. To this end, SIBECOL promotes the following activities:
a) Scientific meetings of a general and specific nature, seminars, courses, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, presentations and all kinds of educational and scientific activities.
b) Funding for research projects in the early stages of the scientific career.
c) Development and updating of knowledge and methodologies, through working groups on different topics within the field of Ecology.
d) Support to public institutions in making environmental and sustainability decisions.
